We have recently attended a couple of shows Temuka & Geraldine A&P and the Malvern Show. Fairhaven Lugano has excelled again and been awarded Supreme Champion Suri at Temuka and Geraldine (T&G) and Supreme White Suri at the Malvern Show. Our cria drop this season all arrived in December 2017 and are all progressing well. Fairhaven Nostalgia and Ngaire are light fawn females, Fairhaven Novello is a dense, lustrous light fawn male and our youngest Fairhaven Nimbus is a stunning white male sired by Surilana Condamine ET
It’s been an exciting couple of months as we have 3 new cria on the farm. Fairhaven New Dawn was born on the day we had approved our new logo. We then welcomed Fairhaven Navajo later in March and Fairhaven Nyssa on April 1st, both by our stud male Surico Picardy.
We also attended a number of A&P shows and Fairhaven Lugano was awarded Supreme Champion Suri at the 3 he entered. His 5th Supreme award. Fairhaven animals have also had success in fleece sections at Banks Peninsula and MacKenzie Highland
We are very excited to have purchased a share in Surico Dali. This young male has recently been certified and we expect him to start working in Spring 2017. Dali is the full brother of the outstanding dam, Surico Magritte. He has had a successful show career and is the 2016 NZ National Champion White Suri.
After the National we entered 3 further breed shows this season, Northern A&P at Rangiora where Fairhaven Lumio was awarded Supreme Champion Suri, the Ashburton A&P Show where Fairhaven Lugano was Supreme Champion and the highlight of the season was at the Canterbury A&P Show in Christchurch where Fairhaven Lugano was awarded Supreme Champion Suri judged by Angela Preuss against some stiff competition.

An awesome weekend at the AANZ National Show. We entered 4 fleeces and 3 were awarded Age Group Championships and the 4th was Reserve Age Group Champion together with Champion Light Fawn Suri Fleece. Two of the fleeces were from suri bred at Fairhaven: Jazmyn (her 3rd fleece) and Jaeger (his 2nd fleece). Fairhaven Jaeger’s dam was awarded Veteran Female Suri fleece (81 months at shearing)

5 cria have been born this month. We started the month with a premmie, Fairhaven Lucca born after 317 days gestation. Down on pasterns and very angular legs but bery determined to stand and have a drink weighed in at 4.5kg. The following say Fairhaven Liviya was born after 362 days gestation – so a huge difference in size but within a week Lucca had gained strength and weight and the 2 were best of friends. (Lucca is in pink)
We then had 3 born in the middle of the month
Three more cria were born Maserati made a very quick entry into the world – didn’t even know his mum was in labour. He was just as quick to get on his feet and find the milk bar. A very lustrous boy and so he had to have a special name!
Towards the end of the month a small female cria was born, Mishka a lovely darker fawn similar to her mother after another 362 day gestation. Finally on 30th January our herd matriarch gave birth to a beautiful good sized
Show season started with the Winchester show – which we convene. We took our intermediates Leilani, Dalilah and Troika and also took Jazmyn and Cordelia with their cria. The cria behaved really well – watched their mums in the ring and Lugano saw his Mum , Cordelia take the Supreme Champion trophy.
